4 hours of HORROR

Why is it and who was it that created the domino affect. Well whoever it was sucks. Yes. Sucks. I have debated blogging these few hours, but have decided I need to just the the fact that I know one day, not sure if that day is here yet, but one day I will laugh about it.

Last week was crazy here. We had, in between our family and the White family, 5 birthdays to celebrate and that meant that I made 7 birthday cakes/cupcakes. On Tuesday I was all on schedule with my baking and preparing, when Tuesday night hit. These are the horror hours my title is talking about. I had baked the batch of cupcakes I needed for Wednesday so they'd be cooled for when I needed to decorate them. Once they were cooled I put them in a large glass cake pan and into the extra fridge. I put them on the blessed Dt. Dew box where they were safe and sturdy (and the only room in that fridge). Later someone had gotten a dew out and shut the door. When when you take one can out of a box the whole box shifts, which made the pan full of cupcakes shift and slide right up against the door.

Cory gets home, has dinner and then proceeds to wash the dogs so my nose can take a break of smelling dog! He gets Degen and Sophie bathed and all is well. Then we get to Ike. WARNING BLOGGING BELOW GETS GROSS, REALLY GROSS. He has been licking his bum lately and we have just been yelling at him to stop. Well when Cory was washing him he found out what the problem was. If any of you have dogs you know they have adrenal glands on either side of their bum hole. Everyone once in a while you need to squeeze them out or your dog will start doing the bum scoot dance on your carpet to empty them. Well for some reason one of those glands on Ike had become so infected that it has acutally bust and was this huge gaping, puss filled hole on his poor little bum. It was so sad. I get on the phone to a emergency Vet office because Ike who is rather hardy would only lay down after his bath and wouldn't move. Totally out of character for him. As I'm doing this Cory goes out to the fridge to get a drink, opens the door and the cupcakes come crashing down. The floor is concrete out where the fridge is so when the pan hit the floor is shattered and nicely decorated the cupcakes with shards of glass. Not quite the decorations I was thinking for a 8 year olds birthday party. Cory sweeps up that while I am taking care of Ike, we decide he needs to go to the vet to at least get antibiotics in his system as we now realize he's had this for a while.

So to back up a little. We normally don't but this night we had to pick Leslie up from swimming. Cory said he'd go and get her. While where he normally parks in our drive way he snugs the passenger side of his truck right up against the fence to give my car more room. But because he has Leslie in there he thought he'd give her room and park so his truck was just overlaping a little behind my car. He figured that since he always leaves before me he'd be fine there. Little did he know he'd have to take into effect the domino affect that so kindly graced our house this evening. So back to the night. I was going to be the one to take Ike to the Vet. I grab Ike, a towel, my keys, cell phone and wallet. Get into the car put it into reverse and THUD. I back right into Cory's truck. I was so done by then. I get out walk into the house, open the door and say, "I hit your truck, move it!" That is all I could muster out of my mouth. Cory response, "Oh crap, I'm so sorry I totally spaced where I parked."

Cory moved his truck. I got Ike to the vet and after the first quote of $258 for them to clean out the infection and do all they wanted to do, I could feel my face going red. I told them that was ridicules and crap. That all I needed (once I knew what was wrong) was a cone and some antibiotics. They gave me my request and I went home with only a $98 charge. Still crazy if you ask me. So it's now 10:30pm. I get home, clean up Ike, watch Ike bit Cory while attempting to get the pills down his mouth, which we finally won, baked more cupcakes and had to apply warm wash cloths for 10 minutes to Ike's bum. I finally got to bed around 1:30 Wednesday morning.

Like I said at the beginning. Domino. Affect. Sucks.

I guess I'll try to end positive. It's been 5 days since then. Ike is all healed, my car has a good scratch on the bumper, Cory has a small dent, and the cupcakes turned our shardless and loved!

You poor woman! If it makes you feel better I have backed into Tom's car not once but twice in my own driveway, and I blamed him both times! My theory is if you don't want to get hit, don't park behind me! Anyway....hope things are better now!

Oh man. That is the kind of night that you never want to repeat - how traumatic! I'm glad that Ike is doing better, though. What a night!
